This is how the Moto Morini X-Cape 650 supplied by the local police are made
12 maggio 2023
Moto Morini, the historic motorcycle manufacturer that for almost a hundred years has made performance and safe driving two pivotal points, together with Bertazzonian expert company in special fittings for vehicles of the Police Forces, has delivered the first X-Cape 650cc to the Local Police of Castelfidardo and Senigallia and others will follow.
Local Police in question have chosen the X-CAPE, commercial success Morini, as a versatile but comfortable model, designed for dynamism and driving comfort. The bike, in fact, remains the one we know: the unmistakable trellis frame, sturdy and in steel, together with the characteristic comfort of the wide and adjustable handlebar, combined with that of the generous saddle, ensure an optimal position to the driver, even on long journeys or off-road.
The premium equipment, moreover, remains unchanged, with equipment that boasts, as always, the most renowned brands of Italian excellence.

The components
The braking system is entrusted to Brembo – a guarantee in terms of safety – and is combined with a disengageable BOSCH ABS system. The Marzocchi forks, also adjustable, are designed for ensure maximum stability on any type of routetogether with the Tyres Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR, a fundamental support to face any surface.
The special equipment that is added is the result of a shared design between Moto Morini and Bertazzoni, with a minimum common denominator, safety, in fact. For this reason, particular attention has been paid to the study and selection of what our Highway Code defines as “supplementary acoustic-luminous alarm devices”, i.e. sirens and flashing lights.
On the other hand, the safety of the centaurs of the Police also depends on their immediate recognisability, both visually and aurally, in city traffic. The acoustic emission of the siren, therefore, plays a fundamentally important role: the higher the perception value of the siren sound in the distance, the more you have the guarantee that the arrival of the motorcycle in an emergency will be perceived in advance by road users, who will be able to act accordingly, facilitating their passage.
In the case of the X-Cape 650 Local Police, the sirens supplied guarantee an excellent yield, well beyond the minimum values established by the Highway Code (which provide for the recording in an open field of 90 Db measured at a distance of 30 meters from the front of the motorcycle). Furthermore, in this X-Cape, in order to ensure perfect weight balance, there are two siren transducershave the same weight and are placed in a specular way on each side of the motorcycle.
In addition to being heard first it is also very important to be seen. Taking advantage of the experience gained by Bertazzoni in the field of priority emergency vehicles, the adoption of the system is standard on the X-Cape Local Police patented by Bertazzoni itself and called Bi-Side Led: a device that ensures the visibility of the blue flashing lights both on the front (as is the case on all motorcycles of this type), but also on the side, i.e. on both sides.
The luminous combination given by the Bi-Sides and the classic and ever-present rear flashing light applied on the telescopic rod, allow the visibility of the flashing blue lights at 360°. The strong point of the Bi-Side is, in addition to ensuring maximum visibility of the bike, of significantly reduce weight compared to the classic devices placed on bulky protuberant brackets, also considerably improving the aerodynamics of the motorcycle itself, reducing unpleasant rustling and vibrations at high speeds.
Other details that make the difference and that denote the attention paid to this transformation are to be found in the positioning of the rear extendable flashing rod and in the location of the management console of the installed devices. The rear telescopic rod (at the end of which the blue flashing light is located) is used to bring the visibility of the flashing light to 360° even when the officer is on the saddle.
Also the location of the siren and flashing controls it was not left to chance. It is of paramount importance to ensure that the operator can operate the devices in question without having to take his hands off the handlebars so that he can always control and steer the motorcycle. In the case of the X-Cape 650 Local Police, the command is located in the immediate vicinity of the left knob and the devices are activated with the movement of only the thumb of the operator’s left hand, which in this way can always keep the the handlebar.
The blue emergency lights of the X-Cape 650, in addition to being able to be used in flashing mode, they can also be used in fixed light mode, known as a “cruise”. We are talking about a fixed blue light with low light intensity which is used during normal patrolling service (not in an emergency) and which makes the motorcycle more identifiable and recognizable to anyone who may need help.
Not at least there is the livery, the motorcycle uniform. Here Bertazzoni’s graphics have combined what the reference technical specification provides, but at the same time that harmony of well-marked lines is sought after that distinguish the Moto Morini X-Cape 650. The adhesive material used is microprismaticoi.e. the one that guarantees the best possible refraction and consequently the so-called “passive safety”. The greater visibility of the vehicle is given, in fact, not only by the flashing lights supplied (active visibility), but also by stickers that optimally refract light. Furthermore, to ensure high visibility of the motorcycle even during the day, Bertazzoni applied special lozenges luminescent yellow on the perimeter edges of the front fairings and the rear flashing door system. An outfit entirely “Made in Motor Valley”, created by those who have been making special outfits for more than 50 years and which have also earned Bertazzoni recognition as the official Moto Morini outfitter.
