The July issue of the magazine Gundam Ace Of Kadokawa revealed that the first part of the manga Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash (Kidō Senshi Gundam Senkō no Hathaway) di Uroaki Sabishi, based on the novels of the same title by Yoshiyuki Tomino, will end in August of the magazine to be released on June 26th. Sabishi launched the manga in Gundam Ace magazine in March 2020. Kadokawa released the first volume of the manga’s compiled book in May 2021, and the third volume in November 2022.
Sabishi also drew the Mobile Suit Gundam manga: Char’s Counterattack Beltorchika’s Children, based on Tomino’s novel of the same name. The manga was launched on Gundam Ace in June 2014 and concluded in March 2018.
Tomino wrote the novel series in three volumes Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash from 1989 to 1990. The novel series is set in the year UC0105 and is focused on Hathaway Noahwhich appeared in the 1988 film Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack as the son of the influential captain of the Federation ship Bright Noa. The novel series deals with the aftermath of the climatic ending of Char’s Counterattack.
The novels are also inspiring a trilogy anime film project titled Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway. The first film was released in Japan in June 2021, having previously been delayed three times.
The film is the first film by Gundam da Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack of 1988 to cross the threshold of one billion yen. The film has earned a cumulative total of 2,209,628,200 yen at the Japanese box office as of October 2021.
The director of the films of the project Shuko Murase revealed in 2021 that the second film may not be released until 2024. The second film has a working title of Kidō Senshi Gundam: Senkō no Hathaway: San of Bright. The producer of the film Naohiro Ogata stated that the second part will have some differences from Tomino’s original novel series.
