Suara.com – Acting Minister of Communication and Informatics (PLT Menkominfo) Mahfud MD said that the project belonging to the Ministry of Communication and Informatics will continue after the Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G Plate has been named a suspect in the BTS 4G BAKTI corruption case.
The Kominfo project meant by Mahfud includes the construction of 4G BTS, the SATRIA Satellite or the Republic of Indonesia Satellite, the spread of internet access to villages up to the Palapa Ring.
Mahfud said that the 4G BTS development project must be continued because the project was started in 2006. The government has also spent a lot of funds to realize the project.
“The 4G BTS project will and must be continued. The project started in 2006, and now it’s 2023. It means that the project has been running for 16 years, meaning that a lot has been issued,” said Mahfud in a press conference at the Kominfo Office, Tuesday (23/5 /2023).

He considered that the 4G BTS construction project was going well. It’s just that the project has had problems this year, where the budget has fallen since 2020, implementation in 2021, and legal proceedings starting in 2022.
“That’s why the president ordered that this should go on, not stop.” he continued.

Not only the construction of 4G BTS, other Kominfo projects such as SATRIA, equal distribution of internet access to villages, to the Palapa Ring will also be continued.
“Even other projects such as Satria Satellite, then internet access to villages, Palapa Ring, and so on, will soon be continued according to the program and budget that has been prepared,” he explained.
Previously, President Jokowi had appointed an Acting Task Force (Plt) to fill the vacant Menkominfo chair. He appointed the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD to become Acting Menkominfo.

“In order to improve performance effectiveness and ensure the smooth running of the duties and functions of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics until the definitive appointment of the Minister of Communication and Information,” said Presidential Decree 41/P which was signed in Jakarta on Friday (19/5/2023) yesterday.
