The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) registered this Monday a 0.35% profit in its main indicator, until reaching 54 thousand 212.67 unitsits fourth consecutive session of earnings, in a day in which there was a low volume of operations at a global level.
In the United States, “the Stock Exchange was closed in commemoration of Memorial Day; for this reason, and due to the closure of the English stock market, the volume of operations in the global capital market was low”, the Director of Economic and Financial Analysis at Banco Base, Gabriela Siller.
“Like the rest of the Stock Markets, the volume of operation of the BMV was low, being located in a 76.8% below the average of the last 30 days,” he added.
In Mexico, said the expert, the Price and Quotation Index (IPC), the main indicator of the BMV, “closed the session with a gain of 0.35%being its fourth consecutive session of earnings”.
He explained that of the 35 main issuers that make up the IPC, 20 registered profits, among which stood out Grupo Carso (+4.99%), Industrias Peñoles (+3.67%), Alfa (+3.32%), América Móvil (+1.97%) and Arca Continental (+1.96%).
With the advance of this day, the IPC registers a gain of 11.86% so far this year and is located at -5% of its historical maximum of 56 thousand 536.68 pointsreached the April 1, 2022.
In the session, the peso appreciated a 0.22% against the dollar, when trading at 17.58 units per greenbackafter being valued at 17.62 in the previous dayaccording to data from the Bank of Mexico.
The IPC closed the session in 54 thousand 212.67 unitswith a profit of 187.22 points and a positive variation of the 0.35% compared to the previous day.
The volume traded in the market reached 172.4 million titles for an amount of 2,357 million pesos.
Of the 203 firms that traded on the day, 100 ended with their prices rising, 84 had losses and 19 closed without changes.
The securities with the greatest upward variation were from the Grupo Carso industrial consortium (GCARSO A1), with the 4.99% and the Autlán mining (AUTLÁN B), with 4.09%and Peñoles Industries (PEÑOLES), with 3.67%.
In contrast, the largest downward variations were from the telecommunications services firm in the series Controladora Axtel (CTAXTEL), with -41.87% y Axtel (AXTEL CPO), with -35.05%and oil and gas explorer Vista Oil & Gas (VIEW A), with -5.26%.
In the day two sectors advanced, industrial (1.61%) and materials (0.7%), and two fell, frequent consumption (-0.42%) and financial (-0.04%).
