According to Variety, the director of Goodfellas has revealed that he had met Pope Francis during a tour of Italy after attending the Cannes Film Festival. “I have responded to the Pope’s call to artists in the only way I know how: by imagining and writing the script for a film about Jesus,” Martin Scorsese revealed at a conference held at the Vatican. “And I’m about to start doing it,” he concluded without shedding any more light on the project.
