Lavrov: G7 Summit Decisions Aim at Detaining Russia and China. PHOTOS/TASS
MOSCOW – Decision adopted on KTT G7 in Hiroshima, Japan, pursuing the goal of containment Russia and China . This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Sergey Lavrov at the 31st Assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, Saturday (20/5/2023).
“Can you see the decisions that are being debated and adopted at the G7 summit in Hiroshima and that are aimed at containing Russia and the People’s Republic of China?” said Lavrov, as quoted by TASS.
Lavrov pointed out that the Western line has “actually outlived” in the form in which it developed Russian foreign policy until recently.
Therefore, Russia embarked on the path of “the most dramatic confrontation with the aggressive bloc consisting of the United States, Europe. Union and the North Atlantic Alliance.”
“The goal was announced loudly and frankly, namely, to defeat Russia on the battlefield, and without stopping here, to eliminate it later as a geopolitical rival,” Lavrov explained.
“That being said, along with any other nation that claims an independent place in the world, they will be suppressed as opponents,” he added.
The top diplomat also pointed out that the expert community of Western countries is openly discussing orders to draw up a scenario aimed at breaking up Russia. And, they make no secret that Russia’s existence as an independent center is incompatible with Western goals.
