MOSCOW – State television broadcaster Russia Vladimir Solovyov, who has been dubbed the mouthpiece of President Vladimir Putin, has once again called on his country to use nuclear weapons in his war at Ukraine .
On the Russia 1 television channel, he discussed the consequences of Russia’s defeat in Ukraine.
The video of Solovyov’s call for Russia to launch a nuclear war was uploaded on Twitter by journalist and Russia observer Julia Davis.
In the video, Solovyov listens to guests of his show; Karen Shakhnazarov—a filmmaker—, talks about how war is now a matter of destroying Russia.
Shakhnazarov wondered if the Russian people fully understood the gravity of the threat posed by the outcome of the war, and that the conflict was far more complex and dangerous than World War II.
He also describes how modern Russian society is not what it was in 1941 when Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union because there was no unifying ideology.
Contemporary Russians, in his view, have grown up consuming American culture and he says there are internal divisions in Russia and a lack of young people, meaning older citizens serving on the front lines.
“The war was decisive for us,” said Shakhnazarov. “Our political elite has to recognize this. We have to start recognizing that this is not just a special military operation but a war. If we lose this war, we will disappear like some Native American tribes just vanish.”
He went on to state that the defeat of Moscow’s forces in Ukraine would lead to books being written about “how Russia lost itself and Eurasia.”
