The tension in the production of Yellowstone season 5 has, unfortunately, been a tonic that has ended up translating into the drama that everyone wanted to avoid.
Supposedly, the scheduling conflicts between Kevin Costner and the producers of the serie from Paramount+ —SkyShowtime in Spain— have been the straw that broke the camel’s back.
This river of drama from Yellowstone had already been ringing and gaining strength with news such as the new series derived from the program, with Matthew McConaughey as the protagonist. The first rumors of this spin-off arose when they began to talk about the conflicts with Kevin Costner.
Despite everything, many harbored the hope that the problems would be solved and that the actor could continue giving life to the patriarch of the Duttons for a long time. Even at Paramount they affirmed in that line that they hoped to have Costner in the coming years.
What will happen to Yellowstone?
But it has not been that way. ET Online has reported that Kevin Costner will not be returning as John Dutton after the fifth season of Yellowstone, the final episodes of which are still waiting to be filmed in Montana.
The news comes a day after the actor’s second wife, Christine Baumgartner Costner, filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage.
Whether the two issues are related or not, Yellowstone loses its main pillar with the departure of the actor from the series. It remains to be seen if, as the initial rumors suggested, the Paramount+ series ends with its fifth season or if it somehow deals with the departure of Costner in order to continue beyond.
What do you think the team will do? Taylor Sheridan before the departure of Kevin Costner from Yellowstone? Will the series continue without the main actor? There are cases like Two and a Half Men or House of Cards, to name a few.
