CINJUR VOICE – There was commotion during the 2023 SEA Games football final between the Indonesian and Thailand U22 national teams.
As the match neared the end, when Thailand managed to equalize at 2-2, there was an act of jeers which resulted in a clash between the players and officials from the two teams when the score changed to 3-2.
The situation heated up when Thai officials and players ran towards the Indonesian National Team bench and got involved in a physical fight.
This chaos continued until the extra round. The national team manager, Kombes Sumardji, was also seen stricken by the repeated attacks and fell to the field.

In an increasingly tense situation, the referee tried to control the situation by giving red cards to several players involved in the commotion.
However, the referee’s efforts failed to ease the high tension between the two teams.
The fans who were present at the stadium also got involved in this chaos by throwing objects at each other on the pitch.
The security forces and the police on duty immediately tried to separate the two teams and control the situation which was getting worse.
This commotion is very unfortunate considering that the SEA Games should be a sporting event that promotes friendship and cooperation between countries in Southeast Asia.
