Jorge Lorenzo on his official Instagram profile returned to talk about what happened in Valencia in 2015.
“Marc Marquez and I arrived at parc fermé and 80% of the circuit – probably all Spaniards – were booing me after beating Valentino Rossi. It’s something I’ve never understood. People were insulting my mother and my friends. All Spanish. ‘You stole the world championship from us,’ they said, and they were Spanish with Rossi’s yellow shirts. We were two Spanish riders, the fastest in the world, and we were booed. They shouted at us that we had stolen it.”
After six titles won by Valentino Rossi in eight years, the Spanish riders took the lion’s share of the MotoGP world championship. From 2012 to 2020 only they won, with Jorge Lorenzo, twice world champion, Marc Marquez (6) and Joan Mir, triumphant in 2020 with his Suzuki.
