Last November, Lionsgate had already stated that he had the idea of making a AAA video game based on the franchise in the works John Wick. And it would seem that development has begun, at least according to reports from Joe Drake, the president of Lionsgate.
This is what reported by Joe Drake, chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Groupwho said on the company’s recent earnings call that Lionsgate is moving into the AAA video game universe with ownership of John Wick,as he tries to expand the franchise. Thanks to Comicbook we know that Drake said:
“Now we’re moving through that franchise, not just in the AAA video game space, but looking at what regular cadence of spinoffs, television really grow that universe so that there’s a constant cadence of a franchise that’s there. a clear appetite from the audience.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a John Wick AAA game. In November last year, even the Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has expressed interest in a great video game adaptation of the property, saying:
“I don’t want to preempt myself here, but we believe there is a great AAA John Wick game to be made. We have put forward proposals.”
Drake’s latest comments indicate that Lionsgate may be partnering with a developer to work on a John Wick AAA game, but it hasn’t been explicitly confirmed. It’s clear that the company is moving forward with its intention to make a game based on the franchise. It remains to be seen how long it will be before anything is officially announced.
