The area destined for agricultural use in Jalisco grew 20 percent reveals the 2022 Inegi Agricultural Census.
According to the agency in Jalisco there are two million 127 thousand 242 hectares of agricultural use a greater amount compared to the million 772 thousand 292 hectares that existed in 2007.
According to the Inegi, 89.9% of the workforce in the field are men and the 10.1% are women.
The high costs of inputs and services, climatic factors and insecurity were the most recurring problems in the field of the state.
The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) released the timely results of the 2022 Agricultural Census.
Its purpose is to offer up-to-date statistics on the economic, technological, environmental, and social characteristics of agricultural, livestock, and forestry production units in Mexico, as well as their production, size, structure, and distribution.
The present It is the ninth edition of this program, which has been carried out in the country since 1930.
The Agricultural Census is the most complete and detailed source of agricultural and forestry economic information in Mexico. It provides data disaggregated by size of the production unit, by municipality and by region, by product (crops, livestock species and forest species), by agricultural cycle, type of agriculture, among others.

MAIN RESULTS
The total area of Jalisco is seven million 859 thousand 728 hectares.
This is divided as follows:
Seven million 656 thousand 163 hectares are rural area y 203 thousand 586 correspond to the rest of the area population centersroads and bodies of water, among other geographical features.
In turn, of the total hectares in rural areas, four million 874 thousand 818 (63.7%) correspond to land with agricultural use or vocationy two million 781 thousand 345 (36.3%) to surface without use or agricultural vocation.
Of the hectares with agricultural use or vocation in the entity, four million 736 thousand 378 were covered by the Census.
The difference in the surface that is generated by subtracting from the total surface of the state the complementary surface (population centers, roads and bodies of water, among other geographical features) and comparing it with the surface of the rural area, is due to the fact that the data of this last area was calculated with standard parameters in the Albers Conic Equal Area Projection, while the data of the total and complement surfaces were calculated with the parameters defined for Mexico in the Albers Conic Equal Area Projection.
Production units areawhether it’s intended for plant cultivation, animal husbandry, or other uses.
Area that is not of the production units includes the area of common use of ejidos and agrarian communities that it was not intended for the cultivation of plant species and that may or may not have been used for grazing. Includes production units whose main activity is forest exploitation.
