The Little Mermaid is undergoing a major boycott. Disney has not managed to connect with the public, but it is also for reasons unrelated to the tape.
IMDB has issued a warning for the boycott of The Little Mermaid. The internet’s most famous movie database has put out an advisory to review bombers after trolls blew up Disney’s latest live-action remake with one-star reviews. This is something all haters do when they hate something for no apparent reason: negatively review a product without consuming it. However, this does not bring the quality of the product closer to reality. And the haters get frustrated anyway.
The IMDB public review section of The Little Mermaid now comes with a disclaimer in which you can read the following message. “Unusual Activity: Our ranking mechanism has detected unusual activity in voting for this title. To preserve the reliability of our rating system, an alternate weighting calculation has been applied.” I wish this would also work on other platforms with a rating system. A pity that anyone can destroy the image of a work or an author without having to buy or acquire a product.

According to a report published by Deadline, the warning can be seen in the US, Canadian, UK, Brazilian and Mexican versions. IMDB points out that they accept and consider all the votes received by users. But not all votes have the same impact on the final grade.. “Although we accept and take into account all the votes received by users, not all of them have the same impact or weight in the final rating,” they explained about The Little Mermaid. “When unusual voting activity is detected, an alternate weighting calculation may be applied to preserve the reliability of our system.
The Little Mermaid currently has a rating of 7/10 on IMDB, and more than 12,000 of its 28,000 public reviews are 1-star. Halle Bailey’s film also has 65% critics and 95% audience on Rotten Tomatoes. It seems that, for now, he is dodging the boycott thanks to online websites.
