We are going to explain to you how to know if whatsapp is using your camera or microphone without you knowing, something that is easy to find out on both an Android mobile and an iPhone. And we say WhatsApp, but with the procedure that we are going to teach you, you can do the verification with any other application.
What we are going to do is use the internal tools that our mobiles have to tell you which applications have used certain access permissions for the last time. You will be able to know which apps have used your camera or microphone and when they last did so. So, if you see that WhatsApp uses them at times when you do not have the app openyou will know that there is something wrong.
See when your camera and microphone are used on Android
To check when WhatsApp accesses your camera or microphone on Android, you have to enter the phone settings. Once inside, Click on the section security and privacy. Depending on the manufacturer of your mobile, the section may be called something else, but you have to look for the one that refers to privacy.
Once inside, you have to search and enter an option called privacy panel. It can be in a Privacy section or directly on the privacy settings screen, it all depends on your manufacturer.
On the Privacy Dashboard screen, you’ll see what permissions have been used in the last 24 hours. In it, the Camera and Microphone permissions are highlighted, and now you have to click on one of them.
When you do it, you will see the list of apps that have used the camera or microphone, and the time they did it. Therefore, now you only have to see if WhatsApp has used any of these elements when you were not using the app.
