Now standard on many cars, the i security systems that use radar technology are starting to be more and more frequent even on large-engined and rather high-end economic bikes, such as the globetrotters of BMW, Ducati, KTM and the new Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+.
This camera, positioned as can be seen under the front optical group, will not act as a real camera to record images or videos, but as a “electronic eye” per monitor what is happening around the bike with CMOS, CCD and MOS sensors, the same ones used in smartphone cameras for capture light and analyze it. The camera is therefore able to understand if the car in front is braking, if there is an obstacle looming, etc…
Still observing the image in the patent application, we see how the camera dedicated to the Africa Twin has a dedicated bracket, positioned below the two LED lights, so as to protect it from stones and insects that could damage it. In addition, the camera is not jointed to the bracket, but is fixed in a way to dampen vibrations.
