BERLIN – Defense Minister Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov, ingin German and English send jet tempur Eurofighter Typhoon to combat air attacks Russia . He revealed this in an interview published today, Tuesday (30/5/2023)) by the Funke media group.
Ukraine has been campaigning for its Western allies to provide fighter jets, in particular the US-made F-16s flown by several NATO countries.
Germany and Britain have so far refused to send the jets, saying they did not have the F-16s that Ukraine wanted. They say the time required to train pilots and the substantial support crew required to deliver their Eurofighter Typhoon jets means they won’t be used much in the near future.
Reznikov, however, said this could also help in Ukraine’s fight against a Russian invasion.
“If the UK and Germany combine their Eurofighter supply capabilities it will be an important step,” he said as quoted by Channel News Asia.
A spokesman for the German Ministry of Defense said Berlin’s stance still stood. The British Ministry of Defense did not immediately respond.
So far, no Western-designed jets have been donated. Poland and Slovakia have supplied 27 MiG-29 fighter jets to complement Ukraine’s Soviet-era fleet.
