While the first half of 2023 left us with games that were utter disappointments and hated by gamers, it also gave us a lot of gems that are GOTY candidates thanks to their very good quality. Well, it seems that a new great game is on the horizon.
After a long wait, Street Fighter 6, the latest installment in Capcom’s popular franchise, is right around the corner. While players will have to wait a couple of days to discover all the World Tour news and test their skills online, members of the press and content creators have already had the chance to play and share their verdicts.
Thus, the new fighting title already has an average rating on portals like Metacritic. To the surprise of perhaps few people, it scored very well and is currently on the list of the top rated games of 2023.

At the time of writing these lines, the PC version of Street Fighter 6 boasts a score of 93 based on 18 reviews on the Metacritic portal. For its part, the port for PlayStation 5 is slightly lower, with an average rating of 92 with 61 reviews so far. It is striking that the version for Xbox Series X | S has a rating of 88, the lowest of all.
In any case, it is clear that the fighting title conquered the community and already has the Must Play quality seal on the platform. For comparison, Street Fighter V, an installment that debuted in 2016 embroiled in controversy due to its poor content and other drawbacks, has an average score of 77 on Metacritic.
There’s still half of 2023 to go, but it’s clear that Street Fighter 6 could take a couple of accolades in the upcoming awards season. For context, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a score of 95, Metroid Prime Remastered has 94 and Resident Evil 4 Remake does the same with 93.
2023 is already a GREAT year for gaming with much more to come
