Buladu Village, East Sumalata District, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province, recently witnessed an extraordinary event that shocked and shocked local residents.
Millions of tiny prawns rise ashore, turning the village landscape into a mini ocean panorama.
Herlinda H Laniyo, Head of Buladu Village, said that this surprising phenomenon was discovered by residents at 5 pm in the yard of a villager’s house.
“This incident happened right before our eyes, the shrimp emerged from a leaky water pipe, as if they were invading the land,” he said, quoted on Thursday (25/5/2023).

This extraordinary sight was something new for the villagers. “Usually we look for shrimp at the mouth of the river, but this time the shrimp have come ashore in an amount we never imagined before, we were really surprised,” said Herlinda.
Residents quickly took the initiative to take advantage of this phenomenon. These small shrimps are then caught to be used as bait for fishing and some are consumed by the villagers.
“These shrimp are very large, maybe their number is in the millions. We use these shrimp for bait and some are dried in the sun for side dishes,” added Herlinda.
So far it is not known exactly what causes this amazing phenomenon. However, the local government has been notified and an investigation is underway.
Herlinda hopes that, although this phenomenon is extraordinary, hopefully this is not a bad sign.

“Buladu village is in season for prawns, but never this much. We hope that the community can make good use of these shrimp,” concluded Herlinda.
