Raf Grassetti, art director at Sony Santa Monica on God of War and Ragnarok, joins Netflix for his first AAA game alongside another Halo veteran, Joseph Staten.
The ranks of Netflix’s video game division swell with the arrival of quite a “figure”, a person you’ll surely recognize if you’ve played the latest God of War and God of War Ragnarok: Raf Grassetti.
Grassetti worked at Sony Santa Monica Studio for 10 years, in charge of the successful reboot of Kratos on PS4 and PS5, but a week ago we learned about his departure from the studio.
Now, Grassetti joins the promising project of Netflix Gameswhich after amassing a respectable catalog of games (available at no additional cost, with any subscription), dares to develop AAA games.
Two God of War and Halo Veterans Reunite on Netflix for AAA Game
Grassetti confirms on Twitter that he is joining the same team he is on Joseph Statenthat a month ago we learned that he had signed up for Netflix.
Staten worked on the Halo saga for more than 20 years, at the beginning of Bungie, and then continued at Microsoft, as he was one of the lead writers for the entire Halo saga, whose latest installment is Halo Infinite.
Staten will be Creative Director of this new AAA game, in which they are also Jerry Edsallex de The Coalition (Gears 5), y Chacko Sonnywho also spent four years at Sony Santa Monica, and most recently at Blizzard as executive producer of the Overwatch saga.
We don’t know anything more about this Netflix AAA game, only that it will be cross-platform. At the moment, they have only distributed through their app for mobile phones and tablets. Will it be on PC and also on consoles like PlayStation 5 o Xbox Series X? Will it be distributed in that case in physical format, or only by subscription to Netflix?
