Mediaset España has bought the free-to-air broadcast rights for the second season of the Kings League InfoJobs and the first Queens League Oysho, the two football leagues created by Gerard Piqué through his company Kosmos. So, and starting this Saturday, some matches can be seen on channel Cuatro.
According to the statement issued by Mediaset España, this new alliance “represents the beginning of a long-term collaboration” between the group and Kosmos. Likewise, the channel will broadcast summaries of the day, the best moments of the pre- and post-match programs, Chup Chup and After.
Just one match, for now
The Kings League was born last November with the idea of revolutionizing football, and boy did it. Not only did he opt for an open broadcast through Twitch, but he broke the molds of classic competitions to give more show and attract a younger audience. It’s soccer 7, yes, but with a twist and a pinch of gamification that has worked really well.
Since its launch, the Kings League has amassed 2.5 million followers on Twitch and almost half a million on YouTube, and with good reason. The teams are chaired by personalities such as Iker Casillas, Gerard Romero, Kun Agüero, Ibai Llanos or TheGrefg, who already attract masses, and the format is very dynamic.
Porcinos FC, the Ibai Llanos team.
It is not only football, but there are also cards with bonuses (such as doubling the value of the goals or taking a player off the field for two minutes), surprise news or that the penalties to break the tie are one against one against the goalkeeper from the start. midfield. Short matches, surprise elements, football, youtubers and streamers and live reactions, the Kings League had it (and has it) all to attract the attention of the younger public.
It makes sense, therefore, that Mediaset has opted for both competitions (Kings and Queens) to broadcast them on Cuatro. Starting this Saturday at 20:00 it will be broadcast one game per day of both leagues. According to Mediaset, of the “most attractive match of each day”. This Sunday, without going any further, the Swine FC (Ibai Llanos) against the xBuyer Team (Buyer Brothers) of the Kings League InfoJobs, as well as the PIO FC (Rivers) contra FC Annihilators (Spear) of the Queens League Oysho.
And it is that the audience of conventional television has not stopped falling in recent years. According to the consultant Barlovento Comunicación, if in 2012 users spent about four hours and ten minutes watching TV, in 2022 the figure fell to three hours and ten minutes. The latest data, corresponding to the month of April, say that each person consumed 180 minutes of TV per day (17 minutes less than the previous month). The most watched channel was Antena3 followed by Telecinco, while Cuatro remained in fifth position.
