Fortnite: Battle Royale is a game that is constantly evolving, which is why it goes through processes in which it is forced to innovate and let go of things that made it great. In fact, the Battle Royale dropped a feature that will make it more difficult for some to play with their friends.
Through a post on Twitter, Epic Games confirmed that the Battle Royale mode for Trios will disappear from Fortnite. This will happen with the debut of the v24.40 update, which will add the ranked matches that fans have been waiting for years.
“Battle Royale and Zero Construction Trios Mode will enter the Chamber in patch 24.40,” Epic Games announced.

What does this mean? That players who usually enjoy games in teams of 3 with their friends will no longer be able to do so. Your only alternatives for the Battle Royale mode will be to play individually, in duos or in a Squad (4 players). So, either they look for an extra player, they settle for playing with a stranger or leaving one of the group out.
So far, Epic Games has not explained why it made this decision. That being said, it’s likely that the mode was unpopular and that it was in the best interest of the state of the game to retire it.
