Some CD Projekt Red veterans have announced the formation of a new game development studio called Blank. The goal of the study will be to create “one-of-a-kind experiences” for players.
Mateusz Kanik, game director of Cyberpunk 2077 and co-game director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, co-founded the new studio together with people who boast work experience on their resume the likes of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Here’s who makes up the team:

“We are thrilled to announce Blank. and to start expanding our incredible team,” said Mateusz Kanik, co-founder and game director. “After years of working in an increasingly conservative industry, we are ready to deliver bold, impactful projects that share our creativity and unique values. Where the industry advocates a dictatorship of the creative individual, we want to give ownership to the team. Where the industry leans into crunch culture, we prefer work-life balance. Where the industry says bigger is better, we aim for highly polished games with a focus on emotion, story and craftsmanship“.
Marcin Jefimow, co-founder and executive producer, said: “Our development philosophy comes from our stories and experiences. With Blank. we want to build a space where we can honor our stories, but also open up to new inspirations and play with them while collaborating creatively. We have already started with a new project that we can’t wait to share with players (Jefimow refers to a game based on the characters set in a post-apocalyptic context, you can find the concept art below) and to create with new team members”.
Finally, co-founder and executive producer Jędrzej Mróz explained how the team intends to approach game development and expand the studio: “In our many years of making games, we have seen the importance of marrying challenging ideas with a well-defined scope, supported by a strong team and a realistic budget. We are committed to quality craftsmanship and run the studio sustainably; we plan to increase the scope of our projects as we expand the team and its capabilities.”
