JERUSALEM – The Israeli occupation authorities deployed more than 3,000 troops to the city of Jerusalem. Not only that, Israel raised its alert level ahead of the provocative Israeli Flag March.
The march will travel through Jerusalem including into occupied East Jerusalem.
The Israeli army also deployed three layers of defense systems including Iron Dome, David’s Sling and Hetz.
Israeli media reported that the Flag March would be led by seven ministers and lawmakers from the extremist coalition including the far-right extremist Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir.
In response to calls made by the so-called Jewish “Temple Mount” group, a large number of illegal settlers have desecrated Al-Aqsa Mosque since early in the morning.
In the video footage circulating, the ministers join in and sing the Israeli national anthem at the Muslim holy site.
An eyewitness told news website Felesteen that the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound was turned into a “military base” before the start of the settler attacks, with Muslim worshipers barred from entering.
This Israeli provocation has increased tensions in the areas of Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
Parades of the Israeli flag are regularly marred by violence committed by Jewish settlers against Palestinian civilians along the convoy’s path.
