The presence of vehicles, such as boats, is something quite common in this franchise, so much so that its previous installment revolved largely around the Regalia, a rather particular car. This Japanese executive has explained that, because the world of Final Fantasy XVI is based on a central map, in which you decide where you want to fast travel, they saw that “there was no need for any other kind of traversal system”.
