ANKARA – Recep Tayyip Erdogan is known to have won the Turkish general election (election) in the second round which was held on Sunday, (28/5/2023). The victory signifies that Erdogan’s reign will continue until 2028.
In his calculations, Erdogan succeeded in winning over his competitor, Kemal Kilicdaroglu from the opposition party with a ratio of 52% to 48% of the vote.
After being declared superior, US President Joe Biden and NATO leaders congratulated Erdogan.
Before becoming the number one person in Turkey, Erdogan had a long career. His expertise in politics began when he became a party member.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan is known to have been born in Istanbul on February 26, 1954. He is the President of Turkey who has served for three consecutive terms.
Erdogan’s political career began when he was active with the Welfare Party which was founded in 1983. Two years later, he was appointed Head of the Istanbul Provincial Welfare Party.
During his tenure as Head of Istanbul Province, Erdogan has implemented programs aimed at encouraging the participation of women and youth in politics. The program was successful and made it recognized and respected by the people of Istanbul.
For this first achievement, Erdoğan was later elected Mayor of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in the elections held on March 27, 1994. More than the previous period, he also made many achievements as mayor.
During his tenure as mayor, he was known as a leader who has provided appropriate and accurate solutions. Various problems such as drought, traffic jams to poverty are also easily solved.
Erdoğan’s high-profile career was also briefly halted because he entered prison. On December 12, 1997, he once read a poem from a book recommended by the Ministry of National Education and published by a state agency. Since then, he was locked up for 4 months in prison.
