Victims of the mob. At least 12 Salvadorans died at the Cuscatlan in San Salvador while attending a match in the local soccer tournament between the Alianza and the FAS. They were killed in the crowd trying to enter the stadium. “The National Civil Police and the Attorney General of the Republic will carry out a comprehensive investigation into the events that occurred in the Cuscatlán stadium. Everyone will be investigated: teams, managers, stadium, ticket office, league, federation, etc. Whoever the culprits are, they will not go unpunished,” President Nayib Bukele wrote on Twitter after Saturday’s incident.
About a hundred injured, some with various types of trauma, others with symptoms of asphyxiation. The match was stopped and the players joined the rescuers, while the injured were taken to various hospitals around the country. It seems that the fall of a gate is at the origin of the drama.
