MOSCOW – A number of drones (drones) attacked the capital city Russia, Moscow, Tuesday (30/5/2023) morning. Two apartment buildings were reported damaged, but no casualties were reported.
The attack in Moscow, whose origins are not clear, came after a wave of Russian missile and drone attacks rocked the capital Ukraine, Kyiv, for three days in a row including early today.
“In the early hours of this morning, a UAV (drone) attack caused minor damage to several buildings. No one was seriously injured. All emergency services in the city are at the scene. Please trust only official sources of information and do not spread unverified information,” wrote Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin on Telegram, as reported by Sputnik.
According to him, several drones were shot down as they approached Moscow.
Mayor Sobyanin added that a number of residents were evacuated from the two buildings that were hit by the drone attack.
“For security reasons, during the work of the emergency services, steps were taken to evacuate citizens from several entrances in the two buildings that were hit by the UAVs. As soon as the work of the special services ends, citizens can return to their apartments,” Sobyanin continued.
He acknowledged there were two Muscovites who needed medical attention but did not need to be hospitalized.
Local emergency services said the drone strikes hit two apartment buildings in southern Moscow, namely Profsoyuznaya Street and Atlasova Street.
“A drone hit the top floor of an apartment building at 98 Profsoyuznaya Street. The facade and windows of the house were shattered. There were no casualties,” the service said through its spokesperson.
