The extension is called Eightify and It should not surprise you that it uses ChatGPT technology, since it is one of the most advanced artificial intelligence systems. Also, as I’m sure you already know, this AI has been put to the test many times summarizing texts and it usually produces good results. However, now the challenge is greater, since it faces all of YouTube. Works?

In a short time, this extension has become a revolution. Not surprisingly, its purpose is really useful. There are many cases in which you may need the summary of a YouTube video and not all of them are aimed at saving time. For example, maybe you are looking at a tutorial and want to have the instructions written in a condensed way. Although important aspects can be missed by the extension, the truth is that it gives the impression that works better than expected.
One positive aspect of the extension that we have not mentioned is that it does its job very quickly. From the moment you make the video summary request, the system takes only 10 seconds to give you the result. Imagine that you summarize a 1-hour video in just 10 seconds, the volume of productivity that you could achieve in all kinds of tasks would be really high.
We tested the extension
The way to use Eightify is very simple. Just add the extension to Chrome and it will instantly be available for you to use. The development of this tool has been carried out with the ChatGPT APIwhich means that you will not need to have an account in the AI, although you will need it in the extension itself.
Once you enter YouTube and access the video you want to summarize, you will see that there are two buttons where you can click. One of them is next to the “I don’t like” and the other is in the navigation bar on the right. In both cases, when you click you will need to sign up for Eightify, for which you can use your own Google account. As soon as you have identified yourself, the system will inform you about the conditions of the free plan, which is activated by default.
Can make three video summaries a week, but always taking into account that the maximum video length that you can enter is 30 minutes. If you wanted to use it without these limitations, you would have to pay for the premium version, which has a monthly cost of $4.95. You can also pay annually for a lower price of $3.95 per month. To continue with the free version, click on “I’m Ok with limits” (the white button). This will put the system to work to obtain the summary of the video, which will appear on the right as you can see in our screenshots.
However, keep in mind that you can choose two tabs: Insights or Summary. In the first case, what you get is a general summary of the video so that you know what it is about, normally divided into different blocks that order the topics of the conversation. If you switch tabs and go to Summary, the AI will start working again, give you another short summary, and then you’ll see a summary of the entire video with time markers for each moment. And the truth is that we can say that it has worked very well, at least in the test that we have done with a video of Jack Black playing.
If you don’t like any of the information you see in the summary, you can click on the time marker so that the video shows you exactly that part. That way you can check and see if the AI got it wrong in something.
