They say sequels never beat the original. And with Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse we leave behind that categorical statement and confirm that it surpasses and kicks Spider-Man: A New Universe a thousand times.
The new Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen embark on a new adventure that will lead them to discover new and unexpected worlds of the Multiverse. The animation, the characters, the plot, the soundtrack, the cameos… How difficult it will be to overcome Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse! It’s just overwhelming.
Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse is the exciting second installment of the Spider-Verse trilogy. Miles Morales after meeting Gwen Stacy, the friendly Brooklyn neighbor Spider-Man is catapulted across the multiverse. There he meets the Spider Society, a team of Spider-People tasked with protecting the very existence of the multiverse. But when the heroes clash with each other over how to deal with a new threat, Miles faces off against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero in order to save the people he loves most. Anyone can put on a mask, but it’s the way you wear it that makes you a hero.
Spider-man review: Crossing the multiverse
Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse It seemed cruel to me. Overwhelming on all levels. A film that does not allow any respite from the first moment. As soon as you are caught in their web there is no salvation. It’s brutal. amazing. Sensational. Spectacular.
The movie flows. She is very crazy in the bet. Gather all the Spider-Man ever and ever in the Multiverse. And literally they all come out. ALL. Seeing is believing.
Let’s not forget that the shadow of Spider-Man: A New Universe with an Oscar is very long but this sequel is not afraid of danger and faces it in the best way. Looking forward without fear. Crowning Miles Morales as one of the best Spider-Man in cinema.
But the film does not fall into fanservice or easy resources, but rather the bet folds to a very simple story with Miles Morales again at the center of everything by accident and this time Spider-Gwen acquires the co-lead role that deserved without any kind of concession. Both become the heart of the conflict in the film that continues to pay homage to the history of Spider-Man. With the Multiverse in between. Playing with the most suggestive ideas that will surprise the most staunch.
Just because. Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse is a love letter to Spider-Man and his entire story. The key moments of him. The characters of him. His mythology.
I have to confess that personally the subject of the Multiverse and Time Travel has always touched my morale and when the Spider-Verse came about it was a pot trip that did not get along with Spider-Man.
However, in recent years we have seen the proliferation of other Spider-Mans and the general public accepts that Peter Parker as Spider-Man, Miles Morales as Spider-Man, Ben Reilly as Spider-Man, Miguel O’Hara, can co-exist. as Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy as Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew as Spider-Woman… We can all be Spider-Man.
With great power comes great responsibility. and sacrifice
The film knows how to play with the right keys to offer us a true work of art. Everything works like a charm.
In Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse we have Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson in the direction while the script is carried out by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, also executive producers and the great people behind this film Spider-Verse.
Without a doubt, those responsible have gone wild offering a show that multiplies and elevates the experience of the previous one to stratospheric levels and difficult to reach in the third and final installment that will put an end to this unique trilogy of the Spider-Verse.
The film offers a simple plot that, as usual, will start to get more complicated than it should be.
One of the great things is that it invites reading from different perspectives and allows us to reflect even on the world that surrounds us through Spider-Man. The references to pop culture and Spider-Man mythology are hats off.
The humor they spend is the best and they don’t forget the drama because the dose of drama increases with the risk of the Spider-Verse. And what a drama!
Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse is a river of references influenced by television, cinema, video games, comics, all the media where Spider-Man has had a presence are represented here and come together in a most unique way. Each world we visit has its own aesthetic and personality.
While in the first the characters were the ones that made the difference in styles, in this one they allow us to glimpse how vast the Marvel Multiverse and the Spider-Verse are, showing us the most unsuspected and unexpected corners. He is amazing. The mix of styles and characters is overwhelming.
It’s one of those movies to watch two and three and four and five times so you don’t miss any detail. Of course, the film does not forget the comic and pays homage by resorting once again to the classic text boxes and onomatopoeia. Really. It’s insanely good. The action is overwhelming. And it has a soundtrack to burn on Spotify. It’s ecstatic. Everything is measured to perfection.
Miles continues to shine brighter than ever and definitely establishes himself as one of the best Spider-Man in cinema. Spider-Gwen is not far behind. While some old acquaintances will be dropped while new ones like Spider-Woman and Spider-Man 2099 will take the lead in this Multiversal drama.
We cannot forget La Mancha, one of the most pathetic villains of Spider-Man who finds new life again in Crossing the Multiverse in a masterful way.
It is a film that works at different levels and allows infinite readings. We won’t mention anything about fascism but we’ll leave it there. More if you have soaked yourself and know all the mythology that has always surrounded Spider-Man.
The film does not become a ball and it does not feel like it lasts almost 3 hours. He talks about certain topics without fear, always with layers and layers of paint. The super comic aesthetic. It has no limitation. The animation rages and overwhelms all the senses. The plot is highly effective. Simple. But not for that reason. The animation. The textures. Colors. The dimension with which they play. Is amazing. It overflows the visual spectacle that they offer us. Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse is a love ode to Spider-Man.
A movie that embraces the entire mythological cosmos of all Spider-Mans and makes it the definitive Spider-Man movie.
Maybe The only drawback that I find is that the film leaves us with a cliffhanger that will leave us without nails until Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse the next 2024.
It is worth mentioning that the film does not have post-credit scenes. enjoy Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse like there’s no tomorrow and marvel at the Spider-Verse.
When you see the movie, leave me your impressions of it in the comments. We read each other!
