Suara.com – PSIS Semarang CEO Yoyok Sukawi said his team plans to add one assistant coach to the coaching team for the 2023/24 Indonesian League 1 competition.
Quoted from the official Indonesian League website, Wednesday (24/5/2023), Yoyok said the decision to add one assistant coach was aimed at increasing the quality of their team.

“Currently we are also in communication with one of the assistant coaches who has also coached a League 1 club. His license is A and is currently studying A Pro. Hopefully we can release it in the near future,” Yoyok explained as published by ANTARA.
Yoyok explained that the addition of personnel to the coaching team imitated what the U22 Indonesian National Team did when they won the 2023 SEA Games gold medal.

He said the head coach of the U22 Indonesia National Team, Indra Sjafri, was assisted by a number of assistants who were also Indonesian national team legends, such as Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, Eko Purdjianto, Bima Sakti, and Sahari Gultom.
According to Yoyok, the presence of several national team legends has their respective roles which support each other in the U-22 Indonesian national team to produce results, namely the 2023 SEA Games gold medal.
“If we take a look, the U-22 Indonesian National Team at the SEA Games is filled with legends in each position from striker to goalkeeper. PSIS will follow the same steps and we will place quality coaches on each line,” Yoyok explained.
In the current composition of the coaching team, the PSIS head coach is filled by a Maltese coach Gilbert Agius and assisted by a number of PSIS legends starting from I Komang Putra, Muhammad Ridwan to Idrus Gunawan.
Now the Mahesa Jenar squad is temporarily undergoing training led by assistant coach M Ridwan because head coach Gilbert Agius has not yet arrived in Indonesia.
