Christian Nodal gave one of the most important concerts in his career last Saturday at Foro Sol in CDMX. Two days later, he visited a courthouse accompanied by his parents.
Nodal was on May 29 at the 13th District Court in civil matters to appear and sign again an injunction in the legal dispute that he maintains with his old record label, Universal, for the rights to his songs. When his signature was required, the interpreter of “Cazzualidades” signed before graphoscopy experts, accompanied by his parents Jaime González and Silvia Christina Nodal.
In photographs obtained by this newspaper, Nodal can be seen wearing a white shirt, jean pants, and a gray cap, inside the courthouse. The legal mess began a few months ago, when the company accused the musician’s parents of trying to dispute their son’s catalog fraudulently.. In the record label’s complaint, she claimed to have “several contracts and the corresponding payments” that legitimize her as the owner of Nodal’s works.

Apparently, Silvia and Jaime filed a lawsuit before a Federal Judge to claim the rights, for which they exhibited documents where Christian Nodal appears as the owner of the works; “this despite the fact that the artist’s own parents had recognized the ownership of Universal/Fonovisa in various contracts“, according to Universal. It should be noted that, previously and through his social networks, the 24-year-old had already expressed his disagreement with the contract he had with the company, even going so far as to name his employment relationship as “toxic”.

In an attempt to improve things, the interpreter of “Bottle after bottle” He sat down to negotiate with the representatives of the record label, but did not reach any agreement regarding the renewal of the contract and did not obtain his immediate freedom. Later, and still being part of Universal’s talent, Christian signed a new contract with Sony, causing the fury of the other company.
Subsequently, the Mexican Association of Phonogram and Videogram Producers, which brings together the country’s record companies, issued a warning letter to businessmen and artists, so that they refrain from hiring, disclosing, manufacturing, distributing, commercializing, exploiting and/or sell any type of Christian Nodal sound recording and that everything must be consented to by Universal.
But this is not the first time that Nodal and his parents have been captured in court, a few months ago they were summoned before the Attorney General’s Office to appear for the accusations issued against them.
