BRUSSELS – “In recent days, I presented to the European Parliament, the ENVI Commission, a pilot project for the dissemination, within European schools, of cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers in the event of cardiac arrest. With the pandemic and the resulting lack of controls, events of this type have become increasingly frequent, as is also happening in Abruzzo. In these cases, timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation is essential to save lives and prevent permanent damage”. So affirms the Honorable De Blasis, European Parliamentarian for Identity and Democracy, with a long professional career as a cardiologist.
“Although the brain can survive 3 to 5 minutes without oxygen, this time frame is generally not long enough for help to arrive. Consequently, it is essential that more people have a basic knowledge of these maneuvers for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The pilot project presented is aimed at making this teaching possible in all European schools, and, consequently, widespread in families”.
“The procedural process of the project presented at the end of March provides for an initial evaluation by the European Commission for the possible financing of a sample project. If successful, the project will be absorbed by policies financed at European level”. concludes the honorable.
