Nick has a wealth of World War II stories. But, as he says himself, there are fewer and fewer people left to tell them. That is why, despite the fact that he will be 100 in September, he still gets the most out of his visit to the Netherlands. He has already been to the Canadian cemetery in Holten. Today he visits the place where his brother was killed, close to the German border, and then drives on to Groesbeek where Dave is buried. “They take such good care of that cemetery. That’s nice to see. It’s nice that it’s there and not somewhere in an open field.”
