Notifications for go to polling station, whether as president, member or alternate, arrive by mail. Could you still get one?
Notice period to form part of a polling station
The notice that you have been summoned to form part of a polling station usually arrives by certified mail. It can be delivered to you by the postman or even by a police officer. If you are not at home at the time of delivery, a notification will be left in your mailbox to pick up at the Post Office.
Once you have the notice, in this convocation letter You will find all the information about the position you must occupy at the polling station, including whether you are a substitute or not. You will also have the instructions to know what you have to do. These are included in a folder entitled “Instruction Manual for the people who make up the Polling Stations”.

Can you still let me know?
If you have not received your hand-delivered notification and have checked your mailbox and found nothing, congratulations, you got rid of having to be part of a polling station on May 28 (although this year there are also general elections, do not claim victory yet).

To those who have not been notified to date that they have had to be at a polling station, know that today the term ended.
Congratulations and encouragement to all those selected.May 07, 2023 • 21:16
The notice period ended yesterday May 7. As we can see, for example, in the above tweet from Ángel Álvarez, candidate for mayor of the Madrid town of Las Rozas, if you have not received a notification as of today, the term has expired. It could only happen that you have not been at home and they have left the notice from the Post Office in the mailbox. Check and leave doubts.
How much is charged?
This obligation is paid. The Official State Gazette (BOE) published on March 6 the decree that establishes the amount that both the president and the members of the polling stations will receive.
For these elections, the economic remuneration is increased with respect to other previous elections. This year they will charge a diet of 70 euros for the performance of these functions. This is paid to those who exercise the electoral obligation. Substitutes do not receive any compensation despite having to go to the polling station to see if they have to count on them or not.
Can you free yourself?
There are exceptions to this obligation to be part of a polling station. First of all, there are certain conditions that justify by themselves not attending to the electoral college and be relieved, as provided in the Organic Law of the General Electoral Regime.

Having been part of an Electoral Board previously, at least three times in the last ten years. Being an accredited victim of a crime that has a judicial resolution with a restraining order from one of the members of the table.
There are also other personal causes that could be considered as a valid excuse to be relieved, although it always depends on the Zone Electoral Board. These cases you will have to justify them in writing.
Having an injury, ailment or disease that does not have leave, but that prevents you from performing your duties. The accreditation of this cause will be made by means of a medical certificate detailing the limitations that prevent or hinder these tasks.
