Brazil declares a health emergency due to avian flu: thousands of birds have died or been killed, hundreds of farms placed in quarantine. Brazil is the world’s largest chicken meat exporter, with 35% of the market. Measures in force for 180 days. The government wants to “prevent the disease from reaching subsistence and commercial poultry production”.
