Sony Pictures announced yesterday with great fanfare the cast that will do the Latino dubbing of Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse. The news strongly divided the opinion of the community, as the company opted for streamers and influencers for various roles.
This upset many fans and members of the dubbing industry, as they feel that the actors who prepared for the job were displaced. Eduardo Garza and Carlos Segundo, well-known dubbing actors, raised their voices and criticized Sony’s decision. Likewise, they attacked certain influencers who have belittled the dubbing and who are now part of the tape.

Actors are not satisfied with the dubbing of Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse
As soon as Sony announced the cast for the Latino dubbing, actors like Eduardo Garza reacted to the announcement. The producer was also not happy with the dubbing focused on influencers, so he sent a message to Sony.
“Hey…. I have 6.2 million on TikTok, 500 thousand on Instagram and the same on Facebook and here… am I an influencer? And I’m a dubbing actor… am I not good for you?” Garza wrote on social networks.
Many people supported him, agreeing that Sony had to give preference to voice actors. The community believes this is a wasted opportunity, so they sided with Garza and backed his position.
On the other hand, Carlos Segundo affirmed that he has been aware of the criticism of Sony. From his point of view, there are some people chosen for the project who have prepared and enjoy dubbing; however, he believes that others are not and have even looked down on the work in the past. For this reason, Segundo believes that these people should not be part of the project.
“That is what in my opinion is unfair. How is it that those detractors of the dubbing were called to participate, and did not reject the invitation? That is what I call inconsistency and it shows how unreliable your opinions are and how low your moral quality is. It’s just my opinion,” said the actor.
As with Garza, Segundo received the support of the community, which also raised its voice to ask the companies for better decisions when planning a dubbing.
