the rocker Alex Lora, leader of El Tri, joins the documentary “Neri Vela: space without limits”, about the man who in the 80s became the first Mexican to reach outer space.
Elena Franco, producer of the feature film that was practically filmed during the pandemic, indicated that the interpreter of “Sad love song” will integrate the musical part where the score (incidental music) is provided by Rodrigo Martínez.
It will not be the first time that Lora has worked in cinema, since in the 90s she won the Ariel award from the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences for “Rolling Stones”, the theme of the fiction “A Lost Year”.
And in 2009, by the hand of Ricardo Arnaiz, now the director of “Neri Vela: space without limits”, he lent his voice to the animated film “Nikté”, as a crazy shaman and rocker.
“With Alex we are seeing if he sings the original song, we are close to that. We want everything to turn out great and that’s why he’s here.” comments Elena Franco, producer of the documentary.
Rodolfo Neri Vela was the man who in 1985 was part of the mission to put three satellites into orbit, including the Mexican Morelos II. For the feature film, there are interviews, in addition to the astronaut, of 40 personalities from the media; also animated passages.
“We are going to talk not only about Neri Vela, but about other characters like Katya Echazarreta, the first Mexican astronaut, for being the first to go into space (June 2022).”
“The final post-production is missing, there will be some very cool animations. We want young people to be very involved, for the new generations to get to know Neri and with Katya we reinforce that”.
Two years ago, Arnaiz recalled in an interview when, as a child, he wrote a letter to Vela admiring his adventure in space. In the letter he told her that he also dreamed of drawing, receiving as an answer that he never stop pursuing his desire. Almost two decades later, the filmmaker premiered “La leyenda de la Nahuala.”
In 2016 the two coincided in an event; Arnaiz reminded him of the letter and the quick astronaut remembered it. Now they are the protagonist and director of the documentary that would premiere this year.
