At the PlayStation Showcase 2023, Project Q, Sony’s new streaming-based portable console, was revealed, thanks to a leak we already have details regarding its battery capacity.
Project Q since its appearance in el PlayStation Showcase has left many people with an eyebrow raised, since a system was expected to be a successor to the PSP and the PS Vitabut what Sony has revealed, that despite being a portable console, not able to run own games nor will it have any native game for the system at the moment.
Apparently it is a console that will work at base of streaming games directly from PS5and that implies that those interested in using Una Project Q must already have a PS5 and the games they want to play purchased on their system.
This is already an important point to consider as a consumer, as many people have been able to enjoy Sony portable systems without the need for a home console in the past.
For example, a PSP user did not necessarily have to have a PS3 or a PS2, just as a PS Vita user did not have to have a PS4, and the systems, although offered certain features in compatibility with their desktop sistersIt was never a limitation, but now it will be like that, if you don’t have a PS5, having a Project Q will be practically buying a paperweight.
If that weren’t enough to sow a bit of skepticism among Sony fans, now a leak from Tom Hendersonan important industry insider, seems to indicate that the console, apart from being nothing more than a screen with controls, will have a rather deplorable battery, with only 4 hours longas reported by Gamerant.
With enough against it already, this could mean that Project Q is definitely not the best idea Sony has ever had, despite the fact that fans have spent quite some time asking for a new portable console… Definitely, Project Q is not what anyone wanted.
Final details aren’t certain yet, but according to Henderson, the Project Q will see its release in November of this year. We’ll have to wait and see what Sony confirms before reaching a full verdict, but the outlook isn’t looking good so far.
