BEIJING – The United States (US) has positioned China as an enemy that always poses a threat to the continued dominance of the West. This is none other than because China has a military power that is highly respected by the US and its allies.
Since the last decade, China has invested in advanced weapons and equipment. Starting from hypersonic missiles to producing fighter planes and submarines. It also overhauled its military command structure to modernize its armed forces.
China’s military expansion is none other than the impact of the country’s very rapid economic growth. Efforts to expand trade are also fully supported by strengthening the military.
Here are 4 reasons why the US is so afraid of China’s growing military power.
1. Always show off military power to neighboring countries

Chinese President Xi Jinping is showing a growing desire to back up his claims to disputed areas ranging from Taiwan, the South China Sea and Japan. China often sends its military fleet to this conflict-prone region.
This prompted the US to intervene. “The increasingly loud voices being heard about a potential Sino-US conflict in the South China Sea stem in large part from the fact that the US now sees China as an equal as the latter’s army grows,” said Yin Dongyu, a Beijing-based China military analyst. Jazeera. “And that’s a pretty good indication of how China’s military power has grown.”
Wanting to contain China’s influence, the US sent many warships to sail the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait. It is an affirmation of the right of navigation in international waters.
