KIEV – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky greeting the Muslim community in Ukraine and all Muslims around the world on Eid celebrations. This is the second time that Ukrainian Muslims have ended Ramadan during the Russian invasion.
“Today, Muslims mark the end of the holy month of Ramada. For the second time, Ramadan ends during the evil state’s massive aggression against Ukraine, against all our people, and all our communities,” Zelensky said, as quoted by Pravda.
“The bright holiday of Eid al-Fitr deserved to happen under completely different circumstances. It deserves the peace we so desire, the victory we all aim for. I believe that God will bless Ukraine with freedom for all of our region and all of our people,” he continued.
Zelensky wished a “peaceful holiday” for the Ukrainian Muslim community and all Muslims in the world. “Ramazan bayramıñız hayırlı ve mubarek olsun!” Zelenskyy is a Turkish word which means “May Eid bring you good luck and blessings.”
It is now the second year since Russia invaded Ukraine which began on February 24 last year. Fighting is still raging in a number of areas in Ukraine, with casualties continuing to fall, especially among civilians.
Various attempts have been made to stop the fighting, but until now these efforts have not produced results. Russian and Ukrainian troops are still fighting each other in various sectors, using a variety of combat equipment.
