Opinion is very divided about the restart of the DC Extended Universe prepared by James Gunn and Peter Safran. Why Henry Cavill will not be part of James Gunn’s new EUDC
In view of all the fuss, James Gunn had to explain why Henry Cavill will not be part of the cast in the DC Extended Universe reboot.
The filmmaker, who will be in charge of directing Superman: Legacy, clarified that at no time was Henry Cavill fired, but rather that he was not taken into account for the casting of the film.
Said like that at first glance it may sound a bit wrong, but the director explained that he he was looking for a younger version of Superman and didn’t think Cavill was a good fit for the character he had in mind.
“We didn’t fire Henry. Henry was never elected. For me, it’s about who I want to elect as Superman and who are the filmmakers we want to choose. And for me, for this story, it’s not Henry,” commented the director, adding that he did not intend to offend the actor with this decision.
“I like Henry, I think he’s a great guy. I think a lot of people are screwing him up, including the previous regime at this company. But this Superman is not Henry, for a number of reasons.“, he clarified.
