The words of Valentino Rossi
On the eve of the Monza race, the first of his new season on four wheels, Valentino Rossi spoke to La Repubblica about his career: “I don’t like calling it my last sporting challenge, I hope not. I’ve always had in mind to race in the car after the bikes, you have to figure out where I’ll go, what matters to me is that I’m old… It’s a good challenge, the WRT team reminds me of a MotoGP team and BMW believes in my project. I’ll do a test with the Hypercar, we just have to decide when and where.”
“Even today, people ask me when I’ll go back to racing motorcycles and they feel bad if I tell them I’m almost 50, so I reply that I’ll do it next year. It’s a big commitment to manage, but I understand that it will never change , not even when I stop running,” the Doctor joked.
“In the MotoGP we have many strong riders, Bagnaia could become a driving force. After me, motorcycling has returned to what it was before me: a sport for enthusiasts. For some reason, I was able to make it known to grandmothers and children. I honestly don’t know why, perhaps it was a combination of my results and my character. Bezzecchi? I got excited. Making a team and winning in the MotoGP isn’t a given, many never succeed. Furthermore, like Bagnaia, he is my driver in the Academy and that triples the emotions”.
