ANKARA – Turkish-made Hurjet light fighter jet completed its maiden flight on Tuesday (25/4/2023). This was reported by the state-owned television station TRT.
Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS), the Turkish trainer jet and light attack aircraft Hurjet conducted its first engine test start in February.
The Hurjet project was initiated for inclusion in the Turkish Air Force inventory, replacing the T-38 aircraft for training and the F-5 aircraft for acro team demonstrations.
“The maximum altitude of the aircraft is set at 45,000 feet (about 13,716 meters), along with its 3,000 kilogram payload, and will be able to deploy nine types of munitions,” TRT reported as quoted by Xinhua.
Turkey will start mass production of the single-engine Hurjet in 2025, with a planned capacity of two aircraft per month and first deliveries to the Turkish Air Force Command, according to Turkish Defense Industries.
