Nick Fury is one of Marvel’s biggest mysteries. The movies have hinted that he’s been a Skrull all along, but is it true?
There is a possible explanation to the great mystery of Nick Fury in Marvel Studios. The new Secret Invasion trailer addresses one of the most pressing questions in the MCU. Samuel L. Jackson’s character’s shadow war against Skrull dissidents bent on world control is a reminder that Fury himself has already been supplanted by a Skrull. In fact, at the time of writing these lines, the version of Fury on Earth has been his friend Talos imitating him.
That seems to change in a big way with Secret Invasion, but it also raises the question of how long has Nick Fury been a Skrull at Marvel Studios?. It’s more than just a casual question, as it has a big influence on the starting point of the new series. That, and his relationship with Talos and the other Skrulls, makes it extremely difficult to pin down exactly when he let a duplicate act in his place.
How long have you actually been a Skrull? here the answer
Samuel L. Jackson has been giving life to this UCM character for years
Nick Fury and the Skrulls became allies during the events of Captain Marvel., when he was another SHIELD agent. The incident prompted him to start working on the Avengers Initiative, as well as establishing a means of contacting Carol Danvers should Earth need her. That movie takes place in 1995, giving Fury decades of contact with the Skrulls before the events of Secret Invasion. And we are talking about many years ahead!
Nick Fury’s relationship with the Skrulls did not directly affect his previous appearances at Marvel Studios. At least until Spider-Man: Far From Home. The movie takes place shortly after Thanos’s snap was canceled at the end of Avengers: Endgame. The post-credits scene reveals that Fury and his partner, Maria Hill, have actually been Talos and his wife Soren for the entire movie.. Presumably, they switched places a few times after Fury’s return during the Lapse, so the spymaster could take some time off.
