Children in the early morning hours at clothing markets, mopeds in the middle of the night tearing through the streets with as much noise as possible, the aubade in front of the town hall, the harmony that gives a musical performance in the street, it’s all part of King’s Day in Overijssel. The public strolls around one of the many free markets in the province, hoping to find something to their liking. Or just browse through the stuff out of curiosity: look, not buy. Anyway, at some point it’s time to grab a terrace to enjoy a cold, but radiant Orange sun. Like here in the center of Almelo, where the traditional Oranjebittertje is extra tasty on King’s Day.
