What could mean the increase in heat waves in the future, especially for these countries.
Heat waves are becoming more common, in some countries more than others, and can end up affecting a country’s productivity, and obviously also life expectancy.
Now, scientists at the University of Bristol are warning that millions of people are in danger because of ever higher extreme temperatures and therefore more heat waves in the world.
“Being prepared saves lives. We have seen some of the most unexpected heat waves around the world that have led to tens of thousands of heat related deaths. In this study, we show that such record-breaking events could occur anywhere. Governments around the world must be prepared,” he says. Then Mitchellco-author of the study.
Scientists are finding that statistically implausible extremes are occurring in 31% of the regions analyzed between the decades of 1959 and 2021.
And it is that these temperature anomalies did not have an apparent pattern, raising concerns that extremes could occur anywhere at any time.
Countries that could suffer more heat waves
Some of the countries most at risk are Papua New Guinea, Central America, and Afghanistan, among others.
On the other hand, the European territory has a very low risk of suffering major heat waves in the future.

Researchers are very concerned about Afghanistan, who believe that its population growth could worsen future climate struggles, putting much more pressure on its health system.
They have also talked about Central American nations such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama, which pointed them out as developing countries at risk.
Be that as it may, heat waves are becoming more common, and yet last summer was the hottest in European history.
