We have just tested it around the Côte d’Azur and now it arrives in dealerships: the Suzuki GSX-8S it is the new streetfighter from the Hamamatsu company that we liked during the contact for its driving dynamics and for the engine with a great kick at low and medium revs.
But it is also the second model which is based on the platform shared with the V-Strom 800DE composed by steel frame and from the engine twin-cylinder in-line forward, rliquid-cooled, with 4 valves per cylinder controlled by a double overhead camshaft, with an effective displacement of 776 of the civil code; as a peculiarity we find the timing of the bursts at 270 degrees, which allows for a sound closer to a 90° V and benefits traction, and the presence of the Suzuki Cross Balancer, a patented system applied for the first time on a production motorcycle and aims to reduce first order vibrations while maintaining structural compactness. The maximum power is 83 horsepower 8,500 rpm, while the pair shows a peak of 78 Nm a 6.800 giri.
As for the cycling, we find wheelbase of 1,465 mm and a saddle placed at 810 mm from the ground, while the suspensions see a 43 mm upside-down KYB fork and a preload-adjustable rear shock connected to an aluminum swingarm. The wheels are 17-inch alloy and shod with Dunlop RoadSport 2 tires in sizes 120/70 and 180/55. The braking system relies on two 310 mm floating front discs with radially mounted four-piston calipers, assisted by a 240 mm rear disc.
