Since Tesla started the sprint race, there are countless competitors who want to outdo the American manufacturer. Lucid is one of those that claims to have a luxury sedan with the Air that is even faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid. Not to the liking of Tesla chief Elon Musk, of course. Which put his engineers to work. The result… is as unearthly as the CEO himself.
6 wheels = more grip
For example, the Model S Plaid is not shy about power (1,033 hp). However, the Model S 6X6 takes that power to an entirely different level. With the addition of an extra set of wheels (and therefore two extra electric motors), the Model S’s power is increased to 1,666 hp. Strangely enough, however, that is not the main reason why this Model S 6X6 gets an extra set of wheels. No, that has everything to do with extra grip.
The sprint from a standstill is not only a matter of power, but also of grip. But how do you give a Model S a lot more grip? Well, according to Tesla chief engineer Arthur Primmob simply by adding extra wheels! The figures therefore speak for themselves with a sprint to one hundred of barely 1.04 seconds. Anyway, the sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h). But something tells us that the extra 4 km/h won’t take much longer. Tesla is taking the Model S 6X6 into production immediately and says it will build copies until it puts the Cybertruck 6X6 into production early next year.
