SuaraTasikmalaya.id – Responding to the polemic issue of canceling the U20 World Cup in Indonesia, constitutional law expert, Refly Harun senses Erick Thohir’s political interests.
“Erick Thohir is adamant about becoming the general chairman of PSSI in the midst of his busy schedule as Minister of BUMN, and his efforts to advance in the contest for the presidential election in the future, either as a presidential candidate or vice presidential candidate,” said Refly Harun, on his personal YouTube channel, seen Sunday (2/2019). 4/2023).
Refly Harun also believes that the U20 World Cup is an effective medium to increase Erick Thohir’s electability.
“And the 20-year-old event is one of the vehicles or means to boost electability and popularity, because many eyes in this republic will surely watch it,” said Refly Harun.

However, political maneuvers to win millennial votes by holding the U20 World Cup were deemed a failure.
“But when he gave his blessing to Erick Thohir to become the General Chairperson of PSSI, it was clear that there were political steps being carried out, namely to ride the U-20 event, to attract millennials, it turned out to be a total failure,” continued Refly Harun.
Apart from highlighting Erick Thohir’s political maneuvers, Refly Harun also highlighted President Jokowi’s inconsistent statements. This is related to Jokowi’s statement that he should not mix sports with politics.
