The referee’s report and the federal inspector’s report will be decisive. Mastrandrea can still ask the prosecutor for further investigation. For the admonition, the previous Lookman quoted by Inzaghi does not hold up
While Lega Serie A firmly condemns “every episode of racism and every form of discrimination”, followed by Inter and Juventus, it expects to know how the sports judge will intervene in the Lukaku case after the Juve-Inter events in the Italian Cup. There are two open fronts: the first concerns the possible sanctions for Juventus fans after the racist boos, the second the yellow card after the exultation that led to the expulsion.
The facts
—
Let’s try to reconstruct the facts: in the 50th minute the Belgian converts the penalty that equalizes for the Nerazzurri; addressing the Juventus curve, he exulted with a military salute and finger in front of his mouth; clear and very heavy discriminatory chants start; Lukaku is framed while he seems to be saying “dumb dumb”; the referee takes out the second yellow card and expels him; brawl.
The racist hearts
—
With regard to the first front, the report of the referee Massa and the report of the federal inspectors present as always at the stadium will be decisive. In light of what will emerge, the sports judge will decide whether or not to sanction the fans or whether, as happened recently also for the anti-Semitic chants of the Lazio curve, ask the prosecutor for a supplementary investigation to clarify further. The device of the sports judge is expected for tomorrow.
The previous Lookman
—
On the booking front, given the weight that Lukaku’s absence could have in the second leg, Inter initially tried to enforce a precedent linked to Atalanta’s Lookman, booked for his celebration against Udinese on October 9th. In that case the referee had seen the gesture of the Nigerian’s binoculars as provocative (his typical way of celebrating), the same interpretation that Simone Inzaghi gives of the second yellow card to Lukaku (who had already celebrated in this way with the Belgian national team against Sweden) arguing that that of the Atalanta was later removed. In reality, beyond the possible readings of the facts, the admonition to Lookman “for non-regulatory behavior on the field” was duly registered. So the precedent doesn’t actually exist. Reason why the Nerazzurri company no longer expects anything on that front.
